Updated: Jul 28, 2023

August second half

29/8/20

[29/8/20, 5:40:37 pm] Chantelle Burns Nanny : 29/08/20 Video 1 - Time 4 Learning (ABC)

Goal - to select the correct letter out of four options.

Outcome - Ashton selected the activity, Brainy Bots. For this activity Ashton had to choose the correct letter out of four options. He chose the correct letter sometimes (I think Ashton was choosing the incorrect letter to be funny). Once that task was completed Ashton wanted to do the mixing colours activity (I let him do this for a little while) and than we moved onto number matching. Ashton was able to complete the number matching with assistance and shortly after we finished up.

[29/8/20, 5:45:46 pm] Chantelle Burns Nanny : 29/08/20 Video 2 - Activity cards

Goal - to complete various activities as outlined on each individual card.

Outcome - I had selected four activity cards to do with Ashton, but he wasn't keen to participate today. The first activity card required Ashton to circle the 3 jungle animals. After trying to get Ashton to complete this card I decided to model what he needed to do. In the end Ashton began to get upset so we stopped the activity.

[28/8/20, 7:04:34 pm] Chantelle Burns Nanny : 28/08/20 Video 1 - Time 4 Learning (colours)

Goal - to sort pictures into their correct colour group.

Outcome - Ashton really enjoyed using the time 4 learning website to learn about colours and sorting them into groups. He was able to sort the colours into their correct groups. Ashton is currently practising using the mouse to control the laptop and he did pretty well (he only needed a little bit of assistance). To sort the colours into their groups Ashton had to use the mouse to drag the pictures into their corresponding groups and he was able to do this. After this activity we explored the site some more and played with colour mixing and painting. Ashton enjoyed these and learnt about mixing colours to make new colours, he even had a guess that mixing blue and yellow would make purple. Obviously this was the incorrect answer but it was great that Ashton made a prediction and in the end he found out that those two colours actually make green. We than explored what colours make purple. All in all we had fun.

[28/8/20, 7:10:13 pm] Chantelle Burns Nanny : 28/08/20 Video 2 - Number dot painting

Goal - to select a number from the bowl and use his fingers to dot out that number.

Outcome - Ashton had his own agenda for this activity and was more interested in the dot painting aspect. He was able to select numbers from the bowl with encouragement and when I helped him he did the dotting in the correct manner. At one point I let Ashton use the paint how he wanted, but when I tried to bring him back on task he got upset. In the end Ashton went to leave the table so I asked him if he was finished and he said yes.

[28/8/20, 7:12:43 pm] Chantelle Burns Nanny : 28/08/20 Video 3 - Throwing a ball

Goal - to throw the ball through the hoop.

Outcome - Ashton was able to successfully throw the ball through the hoop from different distances and heights. I tried to make this activity into a game about siren head to encourage his participation and this worked for a short time. I was using the hoop today as a point of difference instead of just throwing and catching the ball.

First time he has done this so coherently and for such a long time.
