Outcome - today Ashton was able to identify 2/4 words today.

Outcome - with some prompting at times Ashton was able to count both of the numbers and cross out the incorrect numbers and circle the correct ones.



[13/2/21, 6:32:03 pm] Chantelle Burns Nanny : 13/02/21 Video 1 - Star Program 2 (pre-academic concepts - lesson 9 - receptively identify name)

Goal - to point to his own name when presented with two options.


Outcome - I presented Ashton with his name and my name, I asked him to point to his name, however on this occasion he was not able to identify his name. Ashton pointed to my name instead.

Goal - to identify light and dark.


Outcome - Ashton watched the year one science video which continued to discuss the topic of light and dark. After the video we walked around the house to find light and dark sources. Ashton really enjoyed this lesson and was able to recognise when rooms were light or dark. He was also able to understand when a room is dark, turning on the light switch will change it to become light.

Goal - alphabetising energy source terms.


Outcome - This task required us to put energy source terms into alphabetical order. It was too tricky for Ashton so I completed the task.

Goal - to select the correct group (based on a number given) when presented with two options.


Outcome - Today Ashton needed to select the correct answer when presented with two options. Each question showed two groups of people and asked Ashton to choose a specific number, for example which picture shows six people. For the first question I helped Ashton and he was than able to complete all of the other questions with minimal assistance.





[12/2/21, 6:11:05 pm] Chantelle Burns Nanny : 12/02/21 Video 1 and 2 - Sensory play (magic milk and sprinkle ice cream magic sand).


Observation - Today we enjoyed using our sensory play tray to do the magic milk experiment. Everyone including Ashton was excited. All the children watched attentively as I set up the experiment. They all followed my instructions and were able to see the reaction that occurred between the milk, food colouring and soap. Next we used our sensory tray to play sprinkle ice cream with the magic sand. Ashton was the shop attendant first, he took an order from Scarlett and then Giselle. He seemed to enjoy the experience. When Ashton was finished serving Giselle he said, "ohhh I'm hungry". Giselle took her turn to be the shop keeper and asked Ashton for his order. After a few prompts Ashton was able to request blueberry ice cream. All in all much fun was had during this sensory experience.

Goal - choosing words when I verbally ask for a particular word.


Outcome - Ashton was unable to select any words today when presented with four options. We will need to keep repeating this step.

Goal - to cross out the wrong number and trace the correct number. (writing numerals)


Outcome - Ashton was able to place the counting cubes onto his math sheet as I handed them to him (for both questions). He was able to cross out the wrong number and also attempted to trace the correct number.

Goal - to listen to a story and complete an activity sheet.


Outcome - Today Ashton listened to the mega machines story again. When the story was finished he needed to complete the glossary activity sheet. Ashton was required to draw three pictures to match the mega machines listed in the glossary. With encouragement he attempted to draw all three pictures. Whilst Ashton was drawing he was describing the mega machines as transformers.

Goal - phonics, letter 'd' and letter 'd' quiz.


Outcome - For our first language lesson today Ashton was presented with a series of questions relating to the letter 'd' and it's sound. During this task I assisted Ashton where needed so we could complete all of the questions. For our second lesson Ashton had to complete a five question quiz on the letter 'd'. Again I assisted Ashton where and when it was appropriate so he could complete the quiz.

Goal - comparing two groups of objects (more/less).


Outcome - For our first math lesson today Ashton needed to complete a number quiz. He did a good job with this and needed a minimal amount of assistance. Our next lesson introduced a new topic of comparing two groups of objects. Ashton watched the instructional portion of the this lesson and then we needed to answer some questions. For example we were given a picture of two giraffes, one with three spots and one with four spots, Ashton needed to select the one with the most spots. I assisted Ashton with all of the questions as this was a new topic.

Goal - to name pictures when given the cue "what is this..."


Outcome - Ashton was able to label most pictures, however he needed prompts for a few (for example, soap and comb).

Goal - choosing words when I verbally ask for a particular word.


Outcome - Today I placed four words in front of Ashton (mum, car, ball and cat) and asked him to point to each word. He was able to recognise two out of the four words presented to him. I will repeat these words again tomorrow.

Goal - to cross out the wrong number and trace the correct number. (writing numerals)


Outcome - Ashton was able to place the counting cubes onto his math sheet as I handed them to him (for both questions). I prompted Ashton to cross out the wrong answer and to trace the correct one. With my guidance he was able to successfully complete this worksheet.

Goal - to listen to a story and complete an activity sheet.


Outcome - Today we listened to the mega machines book and as we read it I asked Ashton questions. At times Ashton was able to answer me and other times I gave him the answer. After the book we completed the activity sheet together. Ashton needed to draw his favourite machine from the book and I assisted him with this as he needed motivation.

Goal - to choose the phrase using the letter 'd' sound when presented with two options - alliteration letter 'd'.


Outcome - For our first language lesson today Ashton watched a video exploring the letter 'd' and the sound it makes. Following on from this in the next lesson we had to complete a series of alliteration questions. Ashton was presented with two options in each question and he had to select the one that used the letter 'd' sound. I helped Ashton during this task to select the correct answers.

Goal - quiz 1-5.


Outcome - Ashton needed to complete a five question math quiz today. He was presented with a series of questions relating to number recognition. Ashton did an excellent job and was able to complete the quiz with minimal help.

Goal - energy sources.


Outcome - For science today we needed to match up an items with their energy source, for example a person requires food for energy or a lightbulb requires electricity. This task was a little hard for Ashton so I assisted him appropriately and we completed the task together.

Outcome -I demonstrated what to do for the first question as Ashton wasn’t showing much interest in answering, Ashton was then able to identify which of the animals were over or under something.

Outcome - Ashton didn’t show much of an interest in answering the questions about each of the energy sources, they are also a bit tricky to answer so I helped by answering the questions.

Outcome - Ashton needed some help identifying the letters v, w and p. Ashton mentioned c for creature so I showed him the letter c, he also talked about m for mothra so we also looked at the letter m.

Goal - spontaneous play


Outcome - Ashton and I have lots of fun when we’re on our adventures together, he uses fantastic language and imagination throughout the play, we see all kinds of creatures using our imagination!


Ashton and I were playing a tickling game together, when Ashton was finished he told me that he could go to bed. When he laid down he said to me “hey sami, I love you, you’re my bestfriend. I told Ashton that I loved him too and asked if there was anything that he needed. “Yes, I need a bottle,” he said. Mummy then walked in with a bottle, Ashton said m, “hey a bottle for me!” Ashton then went on to say, “sami my bestfriend can go and defeat the creatures together!”

Video 1,2 - school - hass (nature features)


Goal - to watch a video about nature’s features that are all around us

- draw images of nature features


Outcome - I started off the activity by drawing a tree and leaves to encourage Ashton to join in. “A goblin shark,” Ashton said. Ashton did a great job at drawing a goblin shark. We talked about coral being a nature feature, so Ashton then Ashton added an anemone to his images!

Goal - to watch a video about constructive features that are all around us

- draw images of constructive features


Outcome - after drawing the building, aquarium and bridge I suggested a roller coaster as a constructive feature. I did some hand over hand to start off the drawing of the cart, Ashton then independently drew the tracks all over the page, through the building and the aquarium! Ashton held his pen really nicely for the duration of the task

Outcome - I presented Ashton with his name and my name and asked him to point to his name, he was able to do so. I tried again to check that he could in fact identify his name, however on the second time he handed me my name. I explained to him that it was my name. We will need to repeat this activity as the end goal requires Ashton to be able to select his name when presented with three options.

Outcome - Today Ashton was able to hand the words car and mum to me twice. I will now move on to the next two words.

Goal - to count the pictures and circle the corresponding number. (number recognition)


Outcome - With my encouragement and instructions Ashton was able to complete his math u see task. The first question had no pictures and Ashton needed to circle the number zero. With my guidance and explanation he circled the number. Next Ashton counted the trains as I handed him the blocks. Ashton recognised that their were two trains and he circled the correct number.

Goal - to listen to a story and complete an activity sheet.


Outcome - Ashton listened to the mega machines story today. When the story was finished he needed to complete a worksheet on three of the mega machines and what they do (matching task). We went back to each relevant page in the book and I helped Ashton match up the answers.

Goal - phonological awareness letter 's'.


Outcome - For our first language lesson today Ashton was presented with a series of questions that required him to select the correct answer out of two options. Each time Ashton needed to select the answer that used the 's' sound. I assisted Ashton appropriately and we completed the task together. In the next lesson Ashton had some more 's' questions to answer and again with my assistance we completed the questions together.

Goal - counting 1 - 5.


Outcome - Ashton enjoyed the math lessons today. For the first lesson he needed to place a certain amount of animals onto each jungle scene (for example, two tigers). Ashton was able to do this easily. In the next lesson Ashton needed to count the animals in each picture and drag the corresponding number across to the picture. He was also able to do this easily.

Goal - energy sources.


Outcome - The science task today was a little tricky and Ashton got frustrated early on and got up from the table. I decided to end the task as I didn't want him to be upset.

Goal - choosing words when I verbally ask for a particular word.


Outcome - Ashton was able to give me the correct words (car and mum) when I requested. However when I repeated the task he gave me the incorrect words. I will repeat these words again tomorrow for clarification.

Goal - to count the pictures and circle the corresponding number. (number recognition)


Outcome - Ashton was able to count the candies and frogs as well as circle the correct corresponding number. Today I handed him the counting blocks one by one to ensure he didn't have much opportunity to play with them. At the end of the activity I allowed Ashton some time to build a tower with the blocks.

Goal - phonics - letter 'm' and exploring the sound of 's'.


Outcome - For our first language lesson today we explored the letter 'm' again. We had a range of questions in relation to this letter and it's sound, I gave Ashton help where needed and we worked together to find the correct answers. Our second language lesson was an introductory lesson to the letter 's' to prepare us for future work.

Goal - identifying shapes (and their properties), positions (above, in front etc) and flats/solids.


Outcome - Both of the math lessons today were quizzes that focused on the work we have been covering the last few weeks. Ashton was able to answer some questions, however he required assistance at times. The second quiz was rather long and Ashton was losing focus so I helped him to complete it. I feel Ashton is showing good knowledge in the mathematical area of shapes.

Goal - energy sources (breaking energy science terms into syllables).


Outcome - Today we were shown several energy science terms that had been jumbled up and cut into syllables. As each word was presented an explanation of the word was given. It was our job to place them onto a line correctly. This task is a little hard for Ashton so I helped him out appropriately.

Goal - to listen to a story and draw pictures to make a glossary.


Outcome - Ashton listened to the mega machines story. After the story was finished he needed to draw pictures to make a glossary. As Ashton was drawing I fixed his grip on the texta. Ashton was able to draw in each box and at the end I asked him if this was his bulldozer etc and he replied yes appropriately.







04/02/21 I was showing Ashton his feedback videos from his teacher Ellen Crank. During these videos Ellen complimented Ashton on his work. When the videos finished Ashton said, "thank you, Mrs Crank".

Goal - choosing words when I verbally ask for a particular word.


Outcome - Ashton was able to give me the correct words (cat and ball) when I requested. I repeated the task to ensure this wasn't a fluke.

Goal - to count the pictures and circle the corresponding number. (number recognition)


Outcome - Ashton was able to count the two trains on the page and circle the corresponding number. The other question on the page had no pictures and Ashton needed to circle the number zero. I had to explain this to him and lead him towards the answer.

Goal - phonological awareness (m sound).


Outcome - For our first lesson today we watched an instructional video on the letter 'm' and it's sound. In the next lesson Ashton needed to answer several questions in relation to the letter 'm'. He was given two options within each question and had to select the one that used the letter 'm' sound. Ashton needed help throughout this task and I guided him where needed.







[3/2/21, 6:55:15 pm] Chantelle Burns Nanny : 03/02/21 Video 5, 6 and 7 - Time 4 Learning (math)

Goal - shape pictures (how many shapes/what shapes make up a picture).


Outcome - To start off our math lessons today we learnt about using different shapes to make pictures (for example, using triangles, squares and hexagons to make a dog). In this lesson we played lunch box launch and Ashton had to answer questions in relation to this topic (for example, counting how many squares are in a particular picture). Ashton was able to do this, however he did need some direction. Next we did a quiz on the same topic and again Ashton needed some direction at times.

Goal - energy sources.


Outcome - Today we watched a video on energy and energy sources. During this video I got Ashton to interact with the topic by rubbing his hands together (this action uses heat energy to create warmth). This video contained lots of information and Ashton appeared to be listening. (During this video Liz arrived for her session with Ashton).

Outcome - today Ashton was able to choose the correct words for dog and dad.

Outcome - after some prompting and encouragement we counted 7 candies and 4 frogs. I did some hand over hand when circling the numbers to encourage Ashton to have the correct pencil grip.

Goal - to draw Ashton’s favourite digger


Outcome - first we read the book big machines then it was time to draw his favourite digger, Ashton chose to draw a excavator/bulldozer. To encourage Ashton to draw I started the drawing by drawing a square, then together we added the wheels, Ashton then added the arms and chair all on his own.

Outcome - Ashton was being cheeky and wanted to pick the red instead of the blue, good colour recognition Ashton!

Goal - recognising shapes


Outcome - Ashton did a great job at matching the triangles into each of the pentagons, it was a little touchy so I helped Ashton drag them to the correct spot. He did a great job at answering the other questions and helped send all the strawberries to the lunch box party!

Goal - to be able to identify each letter shown


Outcome - Ashton was able to identify the letters a for Ashton, w for whale and g for Godzilla. He even sang a beautiful song during the activity!

Goal - to make bubbles using energy


Outcome - together we opened the blinds to help the corn grow, plugged in the ice machine, charged the battery to then place in the heater to melt the ice, we then fed the hamster to give him energy to run to blow the bubbles!




[2/2/21, 9:14:01 pm] Sammy Nanny: I was creeping over to Ashton and Ashton had his eyes shut however kept opening them to see if I was coming. As I got closer and closer to him he opened his eyes and said “oh no I had a bad dream! “What was your dream about Ashton?” I asked. “It was about the rathalos, I was scared, I screamed and then I woke up!” Ashton told me. And then he gave me a big hug.

Outcome - Ashton was able to tell me that there were 3 blocks for the first question however needed some encouragement in circling the number 3. I encouraged Ashton to count along with me for the number 9, he was able to mark the number 9 with his pencil.

Video 3,4 - time 4 learning (language arts)


Goal - to listen to the story of Mary had a little lamb and then answer questions about the book


Outcome - together we listened to the story of Mary had a little lamb, we then were asked questions about the story. Ashton needed some encouragement at times to click on the correct picture, he had a cheeky grin when he clicked on the horse instead of the lamb. After some prompting Ashton was able to tell me that the sheep was white.

Goal - answering questions about shapes


Outcome - Ashton didn’t show much interest in this activity, for each of the questions I tried to make it a little easier for Ashton by asking him yes or no questions.
