Video 1, 2 - school - science

Goal - to listen to the story and circle the picture of the object for each of the sounds.

Outcome - today for school our task was to listen to the story and as we go along circle the pictures of the objects that we think we can hear. Ashton didn’t show much interest in this task today, when I heard a sound that we could circle I paused the video and asked Ashton what he could hear. When Ashton didn’t answer, I then asked him what picture makes the ring ring sound?I circled the first sound (ring ring) to show Ashton what we needed to do. Ashton was able to identify and circle the mouse that goes squeak squeak. We also talked about other items that can give us light.

Chantelle Burns Nanny : 29/01/21 Video 1 and 2 - Time 4 Learning (language arts)

Goal - syllables (select the correct number of syllables in a word).

Outcome - Today Ashton was presented with five questions, for each question he needed to select the correct number of syllables out of two options. Ashton was able to select the correct answer each time. For our next language lesson today we watched a video in preparation for next weeks topic.

Chantelle Burns Nanny : 29/01/21 Video 3, 4 and 5 - Time 4 Learning (math)

Goal - building shapes and matching them to everyday objects.

Outcome - Today we explored how sticks and clay can be used to make shapes such as squares and triangles. We then did a matching task where Ashton had to match real life objects to the shapes made of sticks and clay. Ashton was able to successfully complete the matching task and lunch box launch which focused on similar questions. Next up Ashton completed the quiz in relation to this topic and he did an excellent job. I had to help Ashton with one question, this question asked which shape has no corners and I had to explain the answer to him. I let him know the answer was circle because it is round and has no corners.

Chantelle Burns Nanny : 29/01/21 Video 6 - Time 4 Learning (science)

Goal - observing matter evaluation quiz.

Outcome - Today we did an evaluation quiz on the observing matter topic. The first part of the quiz focused on texture and colour. Ashton had to place items onto a Venn diagram based on their colour and texture, he did very well with this part of the quiz. The rest of the quiz was a bit tricky so I helped Ashton by explaining the questions and answers.

Goal - syllables and word length (shorter/longer)

Outcome - Our first lesson was an instructional video about clapping the beat of a word. In the next lesson we had to identify which word was shorter or longer depending on the question. At first I helped Ashton to clap out the beats and he would than select the correct word (shorter or longer depending on the question). When we were halfway through this task I decided to see if Ashton could do it on his own and he was able to select the correct answer without even needing to clap the beats! Great job Ashton.

Video - time 4 learning (language arts)

Goal - identifying rhyming words

Outcome - Ashton didn’t show much interest in the rhyming task today, I prompted Ashton throughout the activity however I clicked on most of the answers. He was able to identify that pig and dig rhyme as well as bell and shell. At the end of the activity Ashton began to get restless so I asked him what he would like to do, he told me that he would like to do math, so that’s what we moved onto.

Sammy Nanny: 26/01/21

Video - time 4 learning (math)

Goal - identifying groups of shapes

Outcome - we are doing flats and solids Ashton said as we began our activity! At the beginning of the activity Ashton placed the shapes into the incorrect boxes but was able to fix his mistakes and place them into the correct boxes independently. We are learning about which shapes have edges, corners and faces.

Sammy Nanny: 25/01/21

Video 1,2,3 - time 4 learning (language arts)

Goal - to identify what senses we use

Outcome - today we learnt about our 5 senses , sound, sight, smell, taste and touch. Ashton showed me where his nose, mouth , ears, eyes and hands were. Ashton was able to correctly identify what senses we use when we see a shiny apple as well as when we touch a porcupine.

Sammy Nanny: 25/01/21

Video 4,5 - time 4 learning (math)

Video 1 & 2 - numbers & writing

Goal - to use the correct pencil grip and trace over numbers

Outcome - Ashton did really well with his tracing today, he did well at holding his pencil correctly, he needed some help with readjusting his grip at times. Ashton added two dots to each of the ladybugs, he then added 1 more to each of the ladybugs to make three dots.

[24/1/21, 7:03:04 pm] Sammy Nanny: 24/01/21

Video 3 - animal faces sticker book

Goal - to use his imagination and fill in the missing areas of the animals face/body as well as fine motor skills.

Outcome - Ashton enjoyed making the face of the crocodile, he went through a few eyes until he felt he found the perfect one. Ashton then added teeth and a tongue to his crocodile. It was great to see Ashton persist on taking each of the stickers off and placing them into the position he wanted.

[23/1/21, 7:10:53 pm] Chantelle Burns Nanny : 23/01/21 Video 1 - Time 4 Learning (math)

Goal - identify flats and solids.

Outcome - Ashton did an excellent job with his math quiz. He was able to answer all of the questions quickly and independently. Ashton has shown he can identify flat and solid shapes easily.

[23/1/21, 7:11:32 pm] Chantelle Burns Nanny : 23/01/21 Video 2, 3, 4 and 5 - Time 4 Learning (science)

Goal - observing matter.

Outcome - For our first science task Ashton had to select several different properties of matter to create a story. Ashton seemed to enjoy this so we did it twice and he was able to make the choices easily. During the story I made sure to point out the choices that he had made. Next up we went on a scavenger hunt to find several different items on a list. We had to follow the instructions to find the items and we used various scientific measurement tools (as well as our senses) to check that we had found the correct ones. I assisted Ashton with this where necessary and he seemed to enjoy the task.

[22/1/21, 7:39:08 pm] Chantelle Burns Nanny : 22/01/21 Video 1, 2 and 3 - Time 4 Learning (language arts)

Goal - rhyming words and sentence patterns.

Outcome - To begin language arts today we watched a story video that introduced the topic of rhyming/patterning. Next we watched an instructional video in preparation for some questions on rhyming and patterning. Ashton was able to answer the three questions he was presented with.

[22/1/21, 7:43:11 pm] Chantelle Burns Nanny : 22/01/21 Video 4, 5 and 6 - Time 4 Learning (math)

Goal - identify flat/solid shapes.

Outcome - To start our math lessons off today we did a quiz on flat shapes. Ashton needed encouragement to focus and assistance to answer the questions. He was able to answer some of the questions on his own. Next up we did a lesson on flat and solid shapes and how they can be the same yet different. During this lesson Ashton was presented with a series of questions where he had to identify if a shape was flat or solid. Ashton did an excellent job with these questions and showed he can recognise flat and solid shapes.

[22/1/21, 7:44:52 pm] Chantelle Burns Nanny : 22/01/21 Video 7 - Time 4 Learning (science)

Goal - alphabetising observing matter terminology.

Outcome - We gave this lesson a go, but it was too tricky for Ashton so I decided to do a sink or float experiment with all the children outside.

[22/1/21, 7:45:51 pm] Chantelle Burns Nanny : 22/01/21 Video 8 and 9 - Sink or float

Goal - to predict if an item will sink or float.

Outcome - Ashton was able to make predictions on whether he thought certain things would sink or float. During this task Ashton predicted that his leaf would sink, however when it didn't he was able to say that it floats without being prompted. Ashton showed interest in the girl's items they had to test and also made observations along the way.

[21/1/21, 5:59:16 pm] Chantelle Burns Nanny : 21/01/21 Video 1 and 2 - Time 4 Learning (language arts)

Goal - number of letters in a word.

Outcome - Our language lesson started with a letter counting quiz. Ashton had to answer five questions in relation to this topic. The first type of question asked us to choose the word that has three letters, I worked through this question with Ashton by helping him count the letters in each word to find the correct answer. We repeated this for all other similar questions throughout the quiz. The second type of question showed us a word and we needed to select the correct amount of letters, again I helped Ashton to find the correct answer (we counted the letters of each word) and we repeated this for all other similar questions. Our next lesson was an introduction to tomorrow's topic.

[21/1/21, 6:00:57 pm] Chantelle Burns Nanny : 21/01/21 Video 3 and 4 - Time 4 Learning (math)

Goal - shapes everywhere (recognising and matching flat shapes).

Outcome - Our first math lesson provided Ashton with the relevant information about recognising flat shapes and how they can be seen everywhere. After this informative lesson we moved onto an interactive lesson. First up Ashton had to match several shapes (the shapes may have been different colours/sizes or in different positions) and he was able to do this. After this task Ashton was presented with three multiple choice questions and I assisted him where needed to answer them. Overall Ashton is showing a good knowledge in relation to flat shapes.

[21/1/21, 6:02:22 pm] Chantelle Burns Nanny : 21/01/21 Video 5 - Time 4 Learning (science)

Goal - observing matter.

Outcome - Today's science task was a bit tricky for Ashton to complete on his own. This task wanted us to figure out, "what's the matter". It gave us several clue areas, for example, colour, texture and shape. We had to click on these clues to find out the answer. We tried doing the task twice, however I was leading the way. I think if this task had been presented in a more simplified way, Ashton would have been able to participate and be more involved.

[21/1/21, 6:05:22 pm] Chantelle Burns Nanny : 21/01/21 Video 6 - Star Program 2 (expressive language - lesson 3 - accelerated labels)

Goal - to name pictures when given the cue "what is this..."

Outcome - Ashton was able to verbally label all of the functional item cards except for soap and comb. The soap card doesn't represent the kind of soap Ashton is used to and he also isn't very familiar with combs. I will continue to teach him those two vocabulary words.

Sammy Nanny: 19/01/21

Video 1 - time 4 learning (language arts)

Goal - identifying lowercase and uppercase letters

Outcome - Ashton didn’t show much interest in identifying the lowercase and uppercase letters today, throughout the quiz I gave multiple prompts to see if that would help encourage Ashton to join in with answering the questions. I think it’s difficult as it shows the options as A) B) C).

[24/1/21, 6:46:11 pm] Sammy Nanny: 19/01/21

Video 2 - time 4 learning (math)

Goal - positional words

Outcome - Ashton was able to select the correct responses to each of the positional word tasks, at times he needed some prompting however he answered most of the activity independently.

Questions we ask Ashton and his responses as we try to engage him in conversation.

Sami - what did you do today Ashton?

Ashton - I went to a new animal park!

Sami - oh cool, who did you go with?

Ashton - kevi and Charlie.

Sami - I think you mean Archie and Alexander. What animals did you see?

Ashton - I saw a platypus
